The Rosary is a prayer of the whole Church, loved by saints and simple believers alike. As we repeat the Hail Mary, we walk with Mary through the life of her Son, meditating on the joyful, luminous, sorrowful and glorious mysteries of our salvation.
How to pray the Rosary
- Make the Sign of the Cross and pray the Apostles’ Creed on the crucifix.
- On the first bead, pray the Our Father.
- On the next three beads, pray a Hail Mary on each, traditionally for an increase of faith, hope and charity.
- Pray the Glory Be.
- Announce the first mystery, then pray the Our Father.
- On the ten beads of the decade, pray ten Hail Marys while meditating on the mystery.
- Pray the Glory Be (and, if you wish, the Fatima Prayer).
- Repeat steps 5–7 for the second to fifth mysteries.
- Conclude with the Hail, Holy Queen and the Sign of the Cross.
